Types of Racial Discrimination
Racial discrimination can be of two kinds:
Direct discrimination is a situation where a person is discriminated on clear grounds. For example, hiring an employee who is unqualified for the job just because the other applicant belongs to a different religion.
Indirect discrimination is when the employer creates a workplace practice that impacts the beliefs of some employees such as not letting employees cover their head while they are working.
What does the law say?
The Equality law 2010 protects everyone from discrimination whether direct or indirect, not just at workplaces but in the society as a whole. As per the law, race means your colour, nationality and also your ethnicity.
